The passion of a kid

Josep Vidal’s appreciation for food started at a young age, growing up working for restaurants in Barcelona, Spain. From his early years of working in El Racó d’en Freixa Restaurant, to traveling around the world working in renowed Michelin star restaurants as the mentioned 1 Michelin star El Racó d’en Freixa Restaurant, or the 3 Michelin star restaurants La Cuisine des Anges, La Côte Saint Jacques or Arzak; his relationship with food has always been a way of life.

Chef Josep Vidal apprenticed under the direction of Chef Josep María Freixa (father of renowed Michelin star Chef Ramón Freixa) at well-respected El Racó d’en Freixa Restaurant in Barcelona.
The intense training in several renowned restaurants around Europe proved invaluable, inspiring his intimate relationship with food and dinning as an all inclusive experience.

Always loving challenges, he followed a childhood ambition to travel to the U.S. and start a restaurant serving traditional, modern Spanish cuisine.
Vidal named his restaurant in Portland after his restaurant in Barcelona, Can Font. Placed in the countryside, in a historic farmhouse near Barcelona, in Can Font you will find a restaurant that combines the best service and products with an incomparable environment. In the last 18 years, Josep Vidal specialized his restaurant in all kinds of celebrations, weddings, anniversaries, baptisms and communions.
